Rainwater Services

About

Same owner, same service area, since 2007.

A small St. Petersburg irrigation and water management contractor.

Rainwater Services has been working on Pinellas County and surrounding properties since 2007. We're small by design. When you call, you're talking with someone who's been in the trenches, literally. We are your neighbors and we'll treat your property like our own.

Brian Gregson has been a licensed irrigation contractor for nearly 20 years. He runs the business side of the company and gets his boots dirty on many of the specialty projects. Chris Svabek has worked in the landscape industry for over 30 years and has been instrumental in developing many of our technical processes. He oversees the field operations, especially new installations and large projects. Our phenomenal field team includes dedicated service personnel and installation crews with decades of combined experience. Their knowledge and expertise allow them to tackle projects ranging from minor service and repairs to large multifamily commercial installations. Whatever your project, our team has the talent to deliver!

We're approved by Tampa Bay Water Wise as an installer of smart controllers and other water efficiency solutions. Fully insured.

Where the name comes from

The company started in rainwater harvesting. Cisterns, tanks, first-flush diverters — roof runoff captured and dispersed back onto the landscape instead of into the street. That's where the name came from, and it's still the name on our trucks.

Doing that work taught us something we didn't expect. On most Tampa Bay properties the limit isn't how much water you can get hold of. It's how much of it never does any good: a controller nobody has reprogrammed since the house changed hands, a zone throwing half its output onto the driveway, a rain sensor that quit three summers ago and nobody noticed. The supply wasn't the issue. The waste was.

We evolved over the years to focus on the bigger problem: how best to conserve water in a region experiencing rapid population growth. Irrigation efficiency, landscape drainage, wells and reclaimed water — the same instinct the company started with, pointed at the parts of the picture that do the most good for our community.

"I like to think of us as responsible stewards of our communities' water resources."

Brian Gregson · owner

We still take on a small number of rainwater harvesting projects each year, on properties that are genuinely suited for it.

How we think about the work

Fix what's fixable. The irrigation business has a reputation for recommending replacement when repair would do. That's not how we operate. We are solutions oriented. If a simple repair is the best solution, that's what we'll recommend. No upselling.

Show, don't tell. If a part failed, you get to see the part. If a zone has bad coverage, we'll run it while you watch. There's nothing secret to hide. Full transparency.

Conservation is the product. Not as a slogan. Over half of a typical Florida household's water goes onto the landscape. A poorly maintained irrigation system is the most expensive thing in most people's yards. A properly set up system uses dramatically less water and reduces disease from overwatering. Healthy landscapes, less waste.

Clean up. Digging is messy. Let's be honest, it's probably going to look worse before it starts looking better. But we'll do our best to clean up after ourselves and minimize the mess. You're trusting us with your property. Our integrity matters.
